Chiropractic care is one of the disciplines of health care that focuses on the power that the body has to heal itself. This means that chiropractors (sometimes called back pain doctors)) do not employ drugs or surgery but treat patients via physical manipulation. Chiropractic care provides an additional care option for our patients. Our professionals typically assess, diagnose and treat patient’s problem associated with the skeletal, muscular, and nervous systems of the body. The primary focus is on the body’s structure and its function, which basically means the spine, as it is coordinated by the nervous system. Just as in Behavioral Health, our Chiropractic staff integrates their care services with our entire Medical and Behavioral Health team.

Our pediatrician strives to improve the lives of the children we serve by providing quality of care in a child-centered environment with preventative health care for children in good health and medical care for children who are acutely or chronically ill. The prevention, diagnosis, treatment of medical and surgical conditions of the feet and lower limbs is included in our Podiatry service, such as diabetic food care and treatment of nerve pain in the feet. Consultations with our Podiatrist includes a clinical history, physical examination, diagnosis, preparation of a treatment plan and provision of range of therapies. Treatment plans take into account clinical, medical and surgical history, footwear, occupational and lifestyle factors.

How does acupuncture affect the body?
Acupuncture points are believed to stimulate the central nervous system. This, in turn, releases chemicals into the muscles, spinal cord, and brain. These biochemical changes may stimulate the body’s natural healing abilities and promote physical and emotional well-being.

National Institutes of Health (NIH) studies have shown that acupuncture is an effective treatment alone or in combination with conventional therapies to treat the following:

  • Nausea caused by surgical anesthesia and cancer chemotherapy
  • Dental pain after surgery
  • Addiction
  • Headaches
  • Menstrual cramps
  • Tennis elbow
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Myofascial pain
  • Osteoarthritis
  • Low back pain
  • Carpal tunnel syndrome
  • Asthma
  • It may also help with stroke rehabilitation.

Many Americans seek acupuncture treatment for relief of chronic pain, such as arthritis or low back pain. Acupuncture, however, has expanded uses in other parts of the world. Before considering acupuncture, talk to your doctor. Conditions that may benefit from acupuncture include the following:

  • Digestive
    Irritable bowel syndrome

  • Emotional

  • Gynecological
    Menstrual pain

  • Musculoskeletal
    Back pain
    Muscle cramping
    Muscle pain and weakness
    Neck pain

  • Neurological
    Neurogenic bladder dysfunction
    Parkinson’s disease
    Postoperative pain

  • Respiratory
    Allergic rhinitis
    Sore throat

  • Miscellaneous
    Irritable bladder
